Drawn out on you lay down his hand is critical to winning poker. calling all the way to the river to lose at the showdown is not a winning formula. bump it or dump it. see above! 3. to bluff or semibluff: if you can encourage an opponent to lay down his hand by utilizing a bluff or semi-bluff, you dont have to worry about surviving a showdown. if you have a draw that if hit will prevail, then a semi-bluff is an excellent play. a classic example is raising with the nut flush draw on the flop. if there are four players in the hand and your odds of hitting the flush are 1.86 to 1, then youre making a very positive raise. if they fold, fine. if they call, youre getting additional money in the pot at attractive odds. what is even better is when you hit your flush on the turn and someone else picks up a second or third nut flush draw and rides your train to the river. now youre rooting for him to make his flush on the river and get paid again. 4. to gain a free card on the next round of betting: this is most commonly done on a cheap street with position so you then have the.

Insulin-dependent, or type 1, diabetes is characterized by the body's failure to produce insulin, a hormone that we need to produce energy from the food we eat. patients with insulindependent diabetes require regular injections of insulin to live. diabetes is one of the most significant diseases in the developed world, and its prevalence is predicted to increase. curing diabetes through transplantation insulin is normally produced within the pancreas, specifically in tiny clusters of cells known as the islets of langerhans that are scattered throughout the organ. it is possible to cure type 1 diabetes through the transplantation of the entire pancreas, but as with any whole-organ transplant, it is a difficult and risky procedure. dr. a. osama gaber is a transplant surgeon by training, but he has played a pioneering role in the development of processes by which just the islets themselves are extracted from a donor pancreas and implanted in a recipient. he and his collaborators have developed the ability to extract islets from the pancreas, culture them to remove impurities, and implant them in the recipient's liver. this transplantation may eventually be accompanied by drugs that help the islets develop the blood supply they need to function. since the direct injection of these prepared islets into the liver carries significant risks of bleeding, dr. gaber has developed a method for inserting these cells into the liver through an intestinal vein--necessitating only a tiny incision and virtually eliminating the risk of liver bleeding.

The samurai were big believers in that life was merely a temporary existence between periods of not existing and this outlook gave them a tremendous advantage in combat over their more fearful opponents. they could fight without inhibitions and flow far more easily then they would be able to do with fear handicapping their every move. the samurai have much to teach us as do many of the ancient philosophies that originate from the far east. the legendary motor racing driver and ex-world champion mario andretti once remarked that to reach the very top, a driver had to drive beyond the limits of what was actually safe. was this determination and desire to push the boundaries and go past the limitations of other competitors what caused the death of the brilliant ayrton senna who like andretti before him was an absolute legend in formula one. both andretti and senna were samurai warriors in their own chosen field and both of them were prepared to drive themselves and their cars to limits that were not entirely always under their control. but yet both of them are remembered as legends and will still be remembered long after we are gone. why? because both of them were not advocates of playing it safe. there are lots of good drivers out there and lots of exceptional drivers with bags of talent. but talent is not always enough and especially with a game like draw poker where the number of active participants are in the tens of millions worldwide. to stand out from a global poker population of untold millions then you have to be something special and to be something special then you have to do something special. to do something special means that you simply cannot play the same way as the majority of the other players and poker tip.

If my body were a car, this is the time i would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. i've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that's not the worst of it. my fenders are too wide to be considered stylish. they were once as sleek as a little mg; now they look more like an old buick. my seat cushions have split open at the seams. my seats are sagging. seat belts? i gave up all belts when krispy kreme opened a shop in my neighborhood! air bags? forget it. the only bags i have these days are under my eyes. not counting the saddlebags, of course. i have s-o-o-o-o-o many miles on my odometer. sure, i've been many places and seen many things, but when's the last time an appraiser factored life experiences against depreciation? my headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close. my traction is not as graceful as it once was. i slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. my whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. it takes me hours to reach maximum speed. my fuel rate burns inefficiently. but, here's the worst of it - almost every time i sneeze or cough or sputter, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires and play free poker or draw poker.

A curious local newspaper reporter is alone in a room with a puppet. he cannot see or notice it, and it cannot act at all while he is there. if the reporter has unseen sense attuned to magic, a wits + investigation roll could be made for him to notice its subtle stirring. if there were two puppets, they could act if they wished, but not directly against the reporter. another wits + investigation roll could be made for him to spot them if he searched the room for clues or paid close attention for disturbances. if there were three or more puppets, they would outnumber the reporter three to one. he could see them automatically, and they could act directly against him if they had reason to do so. puppets are clannish. on some level, puppets are aware that they have problems asserting themselves individually, so they tend to gather together if they sense the need for bold action. indeed, they can be downright pushy when they have strength in numbers. if confronted with already terrified intruders, or if characters are detected by monsters or police men, puppets call for their fellows. this is a rattling tone, like shaking beads in a wooden cup, with occasional piercing whistles.
Taking notes during a lecturer's powerpoint presentation, downloading electronic copies of journal articles and working through a multimedia teaching module is now routine for students at the western college of veterinary medicine wcvm ; . that's a far cry from the 1970s when dr. jonathan naylor was a veterinary student at the university of bristol. back then, he and his classmates relied on their notes and journal readings to learn, while their professors simply transferred information through lectures with little discussion or direction about the look and feel of a sick patient. naylor used that same basic model during the early days of his teaching career -- until he discovered computers. "computers revolutionized my life: my research, writing, managing databases and references. that's when i thought about how it could affect teaching, " says naylor, a specialist in veterinary internal medicine who joined wcvm's faculty in 1981. naylor initially used simulation software to develop exercises that gave students experience in diagnosing and treating different types of cases. he saw them as a step between the gaining of knowledge and its application to clinical material -- with the advantage that the modules could be used at the student's convenience. mistakes, while penalized by the program, didn't affect patient care so the student could explore different diagnostic and treatment options. his next project: using technology to interpret equine heart sounds. "the horse has a wonderful heart which i never quite understood as a student or as a young veterinarian, " says naylor. "but with new technology, it's easy to understand: it has a nice, slow heart rate that's well-defined with lots of interesting murmurs and arrhythmias. there's a lot of interest in the equine heart for insurance purposes, so it was a good place to start. new media make it possible to transfer our new understanding in ways that are clinically relevant." when naylor spent a sabbatical leave at the university of edinburgh several years ago, he worked with a cardiologist, dr. karen blissitt, and a wonderful machinist, jimmy brown, to develop an electronic stethoscope that recorded horses' heart sounds. then he perfected the design of software that could display those heart sounds on computer together with their interpretation. the last piece of the puzzle was to combine the sounds and computerized indicators with ultrasound images of the beating heart taken on live horses. "when we heard a murmur, we could actually see the murmur happening in the horse's heart with ultrasound images, " explains naylor. "if it hadn't been for ultrasonography, we would still be trying to understand what those sounds meant and clay poker chips.
